My name is Ryan McColloch, and I am a soon to be graduate of Pittsburg State University with a strong passion for sports broadcasting and media production. Over the last four years, I have been involved in more than 200 live productions, gaining experience in play by play commentary, sports writing, video editing, and live event broadcasting.

I grew up in Monett, Missouri, where sports became a major part of my life at an early age. From the time I was five years old through high school graduation, I played both football and basketball. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for athletics, competition, teamwork, and the stories that sports create.

When I first started college, I attended flight school. While I respected the profession, I quickly realized it did not give me the excitement, energy, and fulfillment I was searching for in a career. In August of 2022, I transferred to Pittsburg State University and began commentating games. The first time I went live on air, I knew immediately that broadcasting was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I fell in love with the fast paced environment, the energy of live sports, and the opportunity to connect fans to the game.

Since then, I have embraced every opportunity possible within sports media. Whether it is calling games, writing stories, editing highlights, or working behind the scenes on productions, I have developed a true passion for every aspect of the industry. Sports are more than just a hobby to me. They are something I genuinely care about and want to dedicate my career to.

One of the most important things I try to bring into every workplace is positivity and energy. I believe attitude matters, especially in high pressure environments, and I always strive to encourage the people around me and help create a strong team atmosphere.

During my time at Pittsburg State, I worked for KKBL Radio while also working at 7 Brew Coffee. Both experiences helped shape me professionally and personally. My time in radio strengthened my communication skills and gave me the opportunity to continue growing as a broadcaster, including commentating Pittsburg State athletics on the MIAA Network. Working at 7 Brew taught me how to thrive in a fast paced environment while building connections with people and making a positive impact on their day. That ability to connect with others is something I will carry with me throughout my career.

As I prepare to graduate, I am excited to continue pursuing opportunities in sports broadcasting and media. I am eager to keep learning, growing, and bringing passion, energy, and dedication to every opportunity that comes my way.
